Beginning in 2004, most GM vehicles were equipped with the GM Oil Life System (GMOLS). The system informs the driver when maintenance is required based on driving conditions, not on a predetermined time or mileage basis. With the GM Oil Life System the vehicle actually senses engine speed and temperature, and the computer continuously monitors engine operating conditions to determine when it's time to change the oil.

The On-Demand Remote Diagnostics on your OnStar-equipped vehicle has the ability to remotely check certain aspects of your operating system, helping to identify particular vehicle system problems. This feature is only available to eligible subscribers with the necessary hardware. Diagnostic services are not available on Cadillac Catera, Pontiac Vibe and Saab 9-3 and 9-5.
